Coconut oil's efficacy in the medical field

Coconut oil's efficacy in the medical field

1)Antibiosis:

Coconut oil contains 40% lauric acid, 7% malic acid, bitterness%, adipic acid 0.5% and other short and medium and medium chain fatty acids, these fatty acids have bactericidal effect.

Medium-chain triglycerides in coconut oil can inhibit yeast infections, such as Candidas yeast; medium-chain fatty acids may cause bacterial death and dissolution by inducing the bacteria themselves to secrete an autolysase.Coconut oil inhibited several bacteria in the genus Candida, with Candida Cruz and C. albicans being the most sensitive to coconut oil at a 100% concentration, with a minimum inhibitory concentration of 25%.

Coconut oil not only has the ability to inhibit microorganisms in vitro, but also has a stronger antibacterial ability to form monologlycerol fatty acids and free fatty acids after being absorbed and decomposed by the body, among which the most active are lauric acid and glycerol monollauric acid fat. Lauuric acid and glycerol lauric acid lipid can cause 3.2, 0.1mg/mL cell loss and change of cytoplasm and cell membrane of bacterial cells, respectively, inhibiting Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus aureus.

These studies undoubtedly have some utilization value to solving the problem of bacterial resistance due to extensive antibiotic use in humans.

2)HIV virus:

Comparing the effects of coconut oil hydrolysate single cinurate and pure coconut oil, the results showed that patients taking coconut oil or the single cinurate and coconut oil had effective resistance to HIV virus.

In addition, glycerides formed after digestion of coconut oil can destroy Listeria monocytogenes, H. pylori and protozoa such as Lamberjardia, measles, herpes simplex virus, influenza and cytomegalovirus.

3)Detoxication:

Studies have shown that a certain amount of coconut oil can be alleviated by the timely consumption of aluminum phosphate poisoning.

In 2005, a 28-year-old man who committed suicide with a fatal 12g of aluminum phosphate had died and then developed several symptoms of poisoning, clinically showing metabolic acidosis and liver dysfunction. During the treatment, oral coconut oil and sodium bicarbonate were used, as well as measures such as potassium permanganate for gastric lavage, oral charcoal ash, sorbitol infusion, and intravascular injections of sodium bicarbonate, magnesium sulfate, and calcium gluconate. After a conservative and supportive therapy in the intensive care unit, the patient successfully survived. This shows that coconut oil can be used as one of the clinical treatment drugs of aluminum phosphate poisoning, with positive clinical significance.

4)Dietary supplements:

Chemotherapy and radiotherapy for breast cancer are commonly used after primary treatment of breast cancer to inhibit metastasis and enhance long-term survival rates. However chemotherapy often is associated with many negative side effects such as nausea and vomiting, hair loss, fatigue, pain, anxiety, depression and others.

Virgin coconut oil is a traditional product that has a long history of ethnopharmacological use. VCO is extracted from fresh coconut flesh at low temperature and without the use of chemicals. Studies have shown that coconut oil inhibits the induction of carcinogenic agents in the colon and in mammary tumours in test animals. In chemically induced cancers of the colon and breast, coconut oil was shown to be more protective than unsaturated oil. Coconut oil which is rich in medium chain fatty acids, and ideal for immune suppressed individuals.

In a clinical study conducted by Soerjodibroto of the effects of VCO on immune responses among HIV positive patients, he concluded that the macronutrient intake, mostly in terms of energy, fats and protein were significantly improved among the VCO supplemented group compared to the control group. In addition, the weight and nutritional status of the subjects, especially among the VCO-supplemented group, were maintained well throughout the study.
