Soybean oil completely refined

The conventional refining process of edible oils and fats includes degumming, deacidification, decolorization and deodorization, of which the decolorization section is one of the important sections affecting the refining effect. The oil still contains phospholipids, soaps, trace metals, carotenoids, lutein, chlorophyll, etc. After degumming and deacidification process, cottonseed oil also contains a certain amount of cotton phenol, the presence of these substances affect the quality of oil, and should be removed in the process of oil decolorization.


At present, the industrial application of more decolorization method is adsorption decolorization method . The adsorbents commonly used in the process of decolorization by adsorption are activated white clay, alabaster and activated carbon. Among them, activated white clay is a kind of adsorbent with high activity, and is also the most widely used adsorbent in the industry, which has a strong adsorption capacity for chlorophyll and some colloidal impurities (such as phospholipids, proteins, mucilage, etc.), and shows strong adsorption capacity for basic and polar atomic groups.


Whether the decolorization link is well handled or not will affect the energy consumption of deodorization. Then, the way of using activated white clay plays an important influence on the decolorization.


1. The moisture content of activated white clay has a significant effect on the decolorization effect of soybean oil

Activated white clay moisture content should be controlled at 7.5% to 10% is appropriate.


2. The specific surface area of activated white clay is positively correlated with its decolorization effect on soybean neutral oil, and the decolorization effect shows a trend of first increasing and then decreasing.


3. The effect of decolorization time on the decolorization effect

In the decolorization process, pigment-like molecules from soybean oil adsorption to the surface of the solid adsorbent and in equilibrium takes a certain amount of time. As a small amount of adsorbed pigment or other impurities on the surface of the activated white clay at the beginning of decolorization, after the decolorization time of more than 30 min, with the increase of adsorbed pigment and other impurities, there are fewer and fewer empty spaces on the surface of the activated white clay, and the probability of contact between pigment molecules and empty spaces on the surface of the activated white clay becomes smaller and smaller, and the adsorption equilibrium is reached at 30 min. When the decolorization time exceeds 40 min, the side reaction may increase and produce some new pigments under the catalyst of activated white clay.

Therefore, the decolorization time should be controlled at about 30 min.


4. Influence of decolorization temperature on decolorization effect

In the range of decolorization temperature from 100 to 120 ℃, with the increase of decolorization temperature, it shows a decreasing trend, which may be because in a certain range with the increase of decolorization temperature, the Brownian motion of pigment and other molecules is faster, and the probability of pigment being adsorbed to the surface of activated white clay increases, however, with the further increase of decolorization temperature, the probability of grease oxidation increases, the color of decolorized oil deepens, and the decolorization effect Decrease


5 Effect of the addition amount of activated white clay on the decolorization effect

With the increase of the addition amount of active white clay, the decolorization effect showed an increasing trend. However, if the addition amount of active white clay is too high, the pigment will be adsorbed and the loss of neutral oil will be caused, resulting in lower oil yield. Therefore, the amount of active white clay added to control the 0.9% to 1.1% is appropriate.


In conclusion, in the soybean oil refining process, decolorization, in the activated white clay moisture content of 8%, activated white clay specific surface area of 180 m2/g, decolorization time of 30 min, decolorization temperature of 120 ℃, the amount of activated white clay added 0.9% conditions, the amount of activated white clay is reduced, decolorization effect is good, decolorized oil quality is better, and can further reduce the energy consumption of deodorization.
