The starch content in corn germ is high. In the process of oil production, the existence of seed coat (the main component is starch) will affect the oil yield and oil quality. Therefore, the pressing section must pay great attention to cleaning, and the endosperm and skin should be separated as far as possible.

The starch contained in the embryo is easy to gelatinize when the material temperature is high. Therefore, the steam frying process has different requirements for the steam frying temperature and water content of embryo materials with different purity. For embryo materials with low purity, the material temperature should be reduced due to the high starch content. For embryo materials with high purity, the steam frying temperature increases with the increase of the purity of embryo materials, and the pressed water content decreases accordingly.

The screw oil press is generally used to control the residual oil rate of the pressed oil cake below 6%. In order to ensure a high oil yield, the pressure of the oil press must be increased. For the press oil plants with small output, the leaching workshop is generally not equipped. For the press oil plants with large output, the pressure of the oil press can be appropriately reduced and the residual oil can be left in the leaching workshop for leaching. Due to the low water content in the pressed cake, for the pressed cake sold directly without leaching, the water content should be properly adjusted to about 12% for the sake of safety.
