Grape Seed Oil

Grape seed oil has been growing in popularity over the past few decades. Grape seed oil or grape oil is a vegetable oil derived from the seeds of grapes. It is a by-product of the wine-making industry, it is typically used for edible applications. It’s often promoted as healthy due to its high amounts of polyunsaturated fat and vitamin E.

Marketers claim it has all sorts of health benefits, including lowering your blood cholesterol levels and reducing your risk of heart disease.

From a business perspective, producing this oil is a brilliant idea. For thousands of years, wine manufacturers can now extract the oil from the seeds and make a profit. The oil are usually extracted in factories by crushing the seeds and using solvents, but the healthier type of seed and vegetable oils is cold-pressed

Some people are concern that traces of toxic solvents such as Hexane could adversely affect people health. However, virtually all solvents are removed from vegetable oils during the manufacturing process. It’s currently unknown whether Hexane traces in vegetable oils cause harm in people over time, but hexane’s adverse environmental effects are more worrying. If your oil doesn’t explicitly state how it is processed, then you should assume that it was extracted using chemicals like hexane.

Because grape seed oil is incredibly high in polyunsaturated fats, it really one of the worst oil you could possibly use for frying. And this fats tend to react with oxygen at high heat, forming harmful compounds and free radicals.

For this reason, you should avoid using grape seed oil for frying. Instead, you can use it as a salad dressing or an ingredient in mayonnaise and baked products.

Remark: As most oils, grape seed oil is high in fat, and therefore should be consumed in moderation. Eating a high fat diet can lead to excess weight gain which increases your risk of cancer, heart disease, and other health problem.
