How to identify sesame oil when buying it:
Color identification method: Pure sesame oil is red or orange-red, machine-pressed sesame oil is lighter in color than small-milled sesame oil, sesame oil mixed with rapeseed oil is dark yellow, and mixed with cottonseed oil is dark red.
Water test method: Use chopsticks to dip a drop of sesame oil and drop it on the calm cold water surface. Pure sesame oil will show a thin, colorless, transparent, large oil flower, and then condense into several tiny oil beads. The oil flower of adulterated sesame oil is small and thick, and it is not easy to spread.
Smell method: Small-milled sesame oil has a mellow, rich, and unique aroma. If it is mixed with peanut oil, soybean oil, rapeseed oil, etc., it will not only have a poor aroma, but also have other odors such as peanuts and beans.
