1.Wax Crystallization Phenomenon

Wax exists in plant oil seed skin and germ, different vegetable oil and different processing methods, the wax content is different. The wax content in rice bran oil was about 3% -9%, 0.05% for corn oil, 0.01% -0-0.35% for sunflower oil and 0.0016% for rapeseed oil. Most of the wax in sunflower seeds is contained in the shell, and the crude oil pressed by the sunflower without peeling, the wax content is 0.02% -0.35%, while the wax content in the crude oil pressed by sunflower after peeling is 0.011% -0.015%.
Sunflower seed oil, corn germ oil, rice bran oil and other oil products with high wax quality, even after dephosphorization, deacidification, decolorization and deodorization and other refining processes, a small amount of solid fat will be low temperature in winter flocculent precipitation, affecting the appearance and use of oil products.
Sunflower oil is one of the most popular oils and has always been a product that many customers want to produce. Therefore, it is particularly important to treat and improve the phenomenon of sunflower seed oil wax crystallization.
2.Dewaxing Processes
Wax is a lipophilic compound with a weak hydrophilic group. When the temperature is higher than 40 C, the polarity of the wax is weak and dissolved in the oil. With the decrease of the temperature, the swimming property of the wax molecules in the oil is reduced, and the ester polarity of the wax molecules is enhanced, especially below 30 C, the wax forms crystallization and precipitation, and then a relatively stable colloidal system is formed. After this low temperature for a period of time, the wax crystals condense into larger crystals, the specific gravity increases and become the suspension.
The wax in plant oil mainly exists in the skin, shell and cell wall, so the crude oil produced by pressing method or leaching method generally contains a certain amount of wax. The oils need to be removed when they are processed for human consumption.

Deacidification oil-→Cooling crystallization-→Pressurized filtration-→Dewaxed finished oil

The deodorization of sunflower seed oil was moved into a storage tank with a cooling device, stirred slowly, and fully cooled through to 25℃ under normal pressure. The whole cooling crystallization time was 48 hours, and then the oil and wax were filtered. The filter pressure was maintained at 0.3~0.35MPa. After filtration, use compressed air to blow out the residual oil in the wax in time.
Due to the low temperature and high viscosity of dewaxing, separation is difficult, so sunflower oil, a oil with high wax content, is usually filtered twice. The deodorization oil is fully cooled to 30℃ in the cooling tank, the cooling crystallization time is 24 hours, the first filter to remove most of the wax, the pressure of the filter does not exceed 0.35MPa. The filtered oil enters the second cooling tank, continues to the cold cold water, so that the oil temperature drops below 25℃, after 24 hours, the second filtration. The oil filtered out is the dewaxed oil. After two filters, the oil wax content (expressed as acetone insoluble material) is less than 0.3%.
